Craigleith, Blue Mountains Ontario Real Estate
Craigleith is located in Blue Mountains, Ontario and gets its name from Gaelic for “rocky bay”. Craigleith was the home of the famous Sir Sanford Fleming who designed the first Canadian postage stamp and invented the concept of “standard time”.
This area is a favourite with tourists for the Craigleith Provincial Park, the rocky shale beach famous for fishing and Northwinds Beach, home of Board Sailing in Ontario. Another attraction is the wreck of the “Mary Ward” which ran aground 2 kms. off shore and remains a destination today for kayakers. One of the last remaining wooden CNR stations is located in Craigleith and is now a museum, the Craigleith Heritage Depot. Residents enjoy an active lifestyle with the Bruce Trail and Georgian Trail carving through the community. Real estate in the area includes waterfront four season homes, condos and cottages, and homes and chalets on the mountainside. Views are incredible with the mountain on one side and Georgian Bay on the other.
